I'm not a writer or anything, just plain simple curiosity -- when they go for ices, are Regency ices like today's Italian ices or what we would call ice cream?
And I think I'm hungry now.

I've always thought they were so of gelato-ish, but I have no basis for that notion. Perhaps Kalen, who's done a lot of food research, has an answer. _________________

I’ve seen period recipes for both “ices” (basically sorbet) and for “ice creams” (which are, confusingly, often also listed as “ices”). _________________ -Kalen

Boy, am I really hungry now. LOL Well, in the end it doesn't really matter what it actually was because I'm not writing a story or anything, but when I picture it, it's always the sorbet types since everyone always refers to them as ices. Though something make me think maybe that's also what they might call ice cream too, just can't remember what got me thinking that. Anyhoo, I'll be quiet now.

I always pictured a sorbet type of dessert myself. _________________
