If it's by Pierce Egan, it's the same.

I found these two books interesting and I seem to be keep going back to them a lot lately: The Pursuit of Pleasure: Gender, Space & Architecture in Regency London By Jane Rendel. It's an indepth look at Pierce Egan's London. Easy and enjoyable to read.

Fashionable Acts: Opera and Elite Culture in London, 1780-1880 By Jennifer Hall-Witt.

But I am not a Regency scholar so I don't know how acurate they are of course.

I just found Randolph Trumbach's book that Kalen suggested online for 12 dollars. Thank you for the suggestion! Very Happy I have been looking for something just like that. study

Thank you Candice for the suggestion on the other The Prince of Pleasure by Saul David. I will definately read that one.

Sporting Anecdotes

Boxiana

Real Life in London

Walks through Bath

and many others . . .

I'm so jealous! All I have is a photo copy. *grumble* Guess I should keep my eyes open . . .

Found on Google Books: The mirror of the graces: or, The English lady's costume; combining and harmonizing taste and judgment, elegance and grace, modesty, simplicity and economy, with fashion in dress ... with useful advice on female accomplishments, politeness and manners ... offering also the most efficacious means ...

Yep, the book that's sold on Amazon!

That's a fun book to read through, especially the rules of feminine etiquette. Shocked The one on Amazon is a facsimilie copy published by a small press in California.

--What happens Downstairs while hero and/or heroine are upstairs.

This book is fascinating and free on googlebooks:

http://books.google.com/books?id=xRIJAQAAMAAJ&printsec=frontcover&dq=the+complete+servant&hl=en&ei=QiTVTYmwG4L6swP9moT2Cw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CC0Q6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false

Written in 1826 but based on the husband-wife team's lifetime experiences. *Sigh* I wish I had me a servant.
