“Court Dress”

This print is a rare example from the short-lived British magazine, edited by the famous modiste Madame Lanchester, published only from 1803 to 1804. At 12″ x 9 ½” (quarto size), these are much larger prints than those in other magazines of the period, and the paper is very high quality. Bits of silver paint are used to pick out details in the trim and the jewelry.The expense of production is no doubt cause for the short life of this periodical.
