Promenade Dresses, May 1803

Fashions of London and Paris, May 1803.

“Promenade Dresses.”

The lace cloak on the right figure is somewhat unusual in that it has arm holes, though in the General Observations it notes that such cloaks “have lately been very generally worn.”

Love both of the bonnets here.

The print is described in the magazine as follows:

“Fig. 1. Muslin dress. Large orange coloured silk French shawl, with a pale blue border. Straw gipsy hat tied with blue.

“Fig. 2. Dress of lilac Chambray muslin. Shawl cloak of patent lace, with arm holes and worn with the point behind. Bonnet of straw and lilac coloured shot silk.”
